“I can lie in the sun all day.”

I love that smell

Johnnie went away for a bit and when he came back his bags smelled good. I love it when humans show up and leave their bags on the floor where I can sniff things out. When the zipper is open and no one is home, I feel the need to investigate, which usually gets me in trouble.

After this last trip, the magic smell was some kind of cheese. Johnnie called it extra sharp provolone imported from Italy, wherever that is? I love cheese, usually we have sharp cheddar or sometimes the extra sharp if Johnnie splurges. Joanna doesn’t eat cheese, but loves to give me pepperoni. I love pepperoni.

Anyway, I was hanging one day when Johnnie pulled the cheese out of the fridge. As soon as he opened the bag, the stinky odor of ripened unpasteurized cheese floated into the room and I began to drool. Pavlov had a good relation with his pups as he noticed our response to food.

Give me some cheese.

I sat there and licked my lips when Johnnie called, “Toby come.” so I slowly lifted off the pillow and gave a stretch, then dropped off the coach and stretched my butt before trotting to the kitchen. I looked up and there it was, white stinky cheese. I licked my lips and drops of drool pooled on the floor.

Oh, I love the smell when cheese comes near my nose and the second smell and taste as I pull it with my tongue across my Jacobson’s Organ, whatever that is, sounds sciencey. What they mean is we canines and lots of other animals have a third nostril type of organ in our mouths so when we lick the air, we pull it across the third nostril and Oh, yeah. I love the taste of extra sharp imported provolone and pepperoni too.
