“I can lie in the sun all day.”

I hear chickens!

For some reason, Johnnie always has me posing for the camera. The other day, we went to the park and had to stop in front of the gate so we could do a photo shoot. I hate photo shoots; they are so intrusive and interrupt the flow of things. I’m a dog and don’t like planning, interruptions during walks, and other things having to do with cameras.

Anyway, I’m sitting on the road in front of the closed gate and all I can hear, besides the roar of nearby traffic, is the sound of a rooster and some chirping, which is a new sound for me. I know the chickens live under the bridge I’m standing on and all I want to do is go over and check them out.

One day we were here and these two roosters chased each other around and around, across the road, under the bridge and back again.

It was amazing. Then they stopped and started clawing each other and pecking and squawking, we just watched. But I digress.

Finally, Johnnie put me back on leash and walked me over to the edge of the bridge where the chickens were making noise. We looked down and there was this little black and white chick hiding next to an all black hen. I wanted to get closer, but the leash was tight so I sat down and just watched this little bird walk around under mom while she kept the fluff ball in check. It smelled so good. Not like the piece on the walk, but alive and stinky.
