Whew, now that we got that poo stuff over, doodles are easy. Or are they, someone just told me that doodle means to draw imaginary things along the edges of pages or what you do with a pen and paper when a boring person is talking.
Whatever that means, come on now, I am a dog. I don’t doodle. I may leave muddy paw prints on the white carpet. So now, we think doodles and oodles (What! oodles, we’ll get back to that) are bigger dogs of large breeds bred with Standard poodles. What happens if you cross a Great Dane with a standard poodle? Would it be a danoodle, a Danedoodle or a Greatoodle. That’s a tough one, maybe someone knows? Maybe it would be size based. A dog with the size of a Great dane and the face of a poodle with dreadlocks. Now I would love to see that.
And what is an oodle. It sounds like a slogan with noodles or something. Just thinking about it makes me hungry. I could use a snack right about now. Johnnie. I’m talking to you. Peperoni. Anyway, oodles are interesting when you consider the Schnoodle. Now you have two breeds that have three sizes from toy to large and one like me in between. So, are Schnoodles really doodles or poos? I mean, when you cross a toy with a toy, you usually get a toy so a tiny schnoodle is more like a poo than a doodle. All this taxonomy is making my head spin. I need a walk.
So, if you are looking for a large dog with hair, that is hypoallergenic (that’s a big word, what does it mean), that needs lots of exercise, may like to chase things and bring them back, swim, play, and all sorts of other outdoor activities, then a doodle may be the dog for you. If you’re a woman who lives alone, a doodle may be just what you need. Your companion will require you to walk, which is always good, and remember, a doodle is good protection. I wouldn’t mess with a standard poodle let alone one of those retrievers or a Greatoodle.
Now remember, large dogs eat a lot, poop large piles, and need to exercise every day; not just on weekends. If you can provide them with love they will reciprocate. You will need a vehicle where they can occupy at least one seat. Greatoodles can take up the whole backseat. If you have one of these, let me know as I am dying to meet you my large cousin.
