Designer Dogs

Designer dogs and Mutts

Per Wikipedia, whatever that is? Johnnie knows, that’s all that matters. Anyway, as I was saying, per Wikipedia, designer dogs are defined as follows:

“Crossbreed dogs or designer dogs are dogs which have been intentionally bred from two or more recognized dog breeds and not from dogs with no purebred ancestors, but have not been artificially bred to each other enough to breed true and be recognized as a breed in their own right.”

As you can see, we’re just a bunch of mutts that look good and behave ourselves. Oh and did I say we love to play. And everyone knows what a mutt is, a mix of two or more breeds. Duh! Anyway, mutts are better dogs since we don’t have those inbreed problems and when mixed by design, we are fluffy and cuddly. Time for a Johnnie rub. Oh yeah. . .

There are a variety of ways a poodle can be mixed since there are three sizes of poodle and various sizes of other breeds and then there’s the schnoodle which has three sizes of poodle and three sizes of schnauzer. I see what you mean by toy. Some of the most popular designer dogs are the cockapoo, labradoodle, goldendoodle and of course my favorite, the maltipoo. Don’t you just love us.

Labradoodle pup. Sooo cute.

The thing is, when you mix breeds you don’t always get what you expect. A litter of goldendoodles could have poodle hair or golden fur. Maltipoos can vary in size from six pounds to 22 pounds or more. I know I weigh twenty-two pounds. If I let my hair grow (Joanna would never let that happen), I would look big, now I look buff and feel fluff eee. Oh don’t you just love it.

So, when looking for a designer dog, pick a poo or is that a doodle. Oodle knows.
